Unity

Haven't posted much lately because I've been making the transfer to Unity. I've been putting together all of my assets in the SDK that I'll be using for the rest of this project. I just started playing around with shaders and am pretty happy so far. It's still not looking like to much but I feel like it is starting to come together nicely.

Introduction Script

After loading up the game and start a new game, this is the script for what happens first:

The game begins in a dark room with two characters, an officer and an unknown character. the officer starts by saying:

Officer
“Alright, so for the record, please state your name:”
player enters name
“Male or Female?”
player enters gender
“Are you married?”
player is given choices between
Single, Married, Divorced, Widowed
“Do you have children?”
player is given choices of
one girl, one boy, none
“Good, now before we begin, I’d like to know a little bit about you. So tell me, who are you?”
player enters his beginning stat points
The player is given 25 stat points to fill into the following stats:
Strength
Luck
Communication
Stealth
Intelligence
Officer
“Okay, let’s get down to this shall we? Start from the beginning, tell me exactly what happened...

The game fades to black as
narration from the player begins

Player
“I was trying to figure out this air filtration problem when we finally isolated it above the botanical gardens”

From Black, cut to:
EXT. Space Station
The players character is walking across
the space ship, you can see the stars
spinning behind him slowly. He stops.
Player
Hey command, I think I see it.

Woman V.O.
What is it, what’d you find?

Player
Not sure, but I know this thing isn’t supposed to be here. We’ve got some kind of box with a light on it, permission to proceed?

Woman V.O.

Go Ahead

Player moves towards the box, light on
it changes red to green, player stops.

Player
Hey command, light switched red to green, you guys see anything down there?
Static
Player
Command? Do you read me? You guys see anything?
Static
Player
(To himself)
Damn radios, always going out...
you see the player go back to the door
where he goes up to the intercom
Player
Hey guys, want to let me in, looks like my radio is dead...

Player
C’mon guys, let me in...
Static. The player then
looks through the window next to
the door to see everyone dead
on the floor

Game Concept:

The game is started by an introduction of two people, a police officer and an unknown character, sitting at a table. The officer asks the other about his experience during an unknown crisis. the other character then starts telling a story. The story states that he was a mechanic on a corporate space station and had been having air filtration problems for a few weeks. His team located the problem coming from the exterior of the station so he got on a space suit, and went into space to find the problem to take care of it. On his return back into the ship however, he found everyone dead. The game now starts in tutorial mode to show basic aspects of movement, seeing, quest layout, use of menu, use of actions and use of inventory. At the beginning of the game, there is no real goal aside from to explore the ship. The game ends when you are finally able to leave the ship. How the player leaves is up to him.

Senior Project

My name is Cyrille Gindreau and this will be a blog for my senior project. Although I haven't been asked to do this my my professor, I'm assuming he'll want some kind of write up so I figured that this would be the best way to go about it... I am in the final year of my undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University majoring in animation. For my senior project I will producing a game. I've been working on the pre-production for the past year and have now started the modeling phase.

This is the schedule for the game:

September: Station Modeled
October: Station textured and lit. Basic ambient sounds
November: First person controls
December: Full walkthrough of outside
January: Interior buildings modeled, textured, lit
February: characters modeled, textured, animated, ambient sounds and basic dialogue recorded
March: A.I. story finalized, all sound, Alpha release
April: Menus, score, tutorial, Beta release
May: full testing, debugging, release and deployment

Throughout the entire project, I plan on releasing screens, demos, and trailers through this blog so keep coming back!
